Saved! Our parkies are safe!
Great news! Following our campaign the Mayor of Bristol has abandoned his plans to cut the parkies at Hengrove Play Park. The parkies and play park are now secure for the future.
With over 11000 supporters on our Facebook page and 3500+ signatures on our petition the Mayor heard our message. At the Cabinet meeting where he made his decision well over 100 public statements had been made opposing the cut.
The campaign would like to thank everyone who supported us from across our communities and especially Leanne and Becki from our Facebook page and local Councillors Sylvia Doubell and Tim Kent who led the petition.
To celebrate our success first please take a look at our celebration video and then click HERE to say you are coming to our play date celebrating our success.
Thanks to everyone and well done.
The Independent mayor of Bristol, George Ferguson, is consulting on cutting the staffing at Hengrove Play Park as part of the budget savings for Bristol City Council. The proposal is to save £120,000. The Park attracts well over 100,000 users a year and services a wider area of south Bristol and is used by children of all ages, many
from deprived backgrounds.
